As we start the long summer break, we reflect on the past year.
This year we helped about 100 children with remedial teaching and assessments, both individually and in small groups, in projects across the country.
We were thrilled to see their progress.
Their success is achieved only through your generosity with continuing donations.

Talia Trust volunteers met pupils in a Talia Trust project in Jabotinsky Primary School in Bet Shemesh. Most of the children spoke freely and with enthusiasm. They said that they are pleased with the project and that the teacher taught them things that the class had not learnt. They enjoyed the song sheet that they were given and the words explained to them.
From the school counsellor N.P. at a school in Carmiel:
"I want to thank you for the great help to our family in funding the diagnostic test.
We will continue to care for and help him receive the best solutions for his abilities and difficulties.
Pleased that I met you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
'Wishing you a good week"

The Talia Trust Committee is very sad to inform you of the passing of our dear founder member, Barrie Greenson z.l. Barrie's encouragement and quiet enthusiasm for TT's aims began before the charity was officially set up and continued throughout his life. He was always ready to help and support whenever asked, together with his wife, Angela. He never missed a meeting or a school visit, whether it be to discuss a project or to watch a graduation ceremony . He will be sorely missed by us all.

Thank you everyone who has contributed to our Rosh Hashanah Appeal which is now closing.
We are so grateful as we could not help children with specific difficulties to reach their potential without your help.
This is the final opportunity to those of you who have not yet contributed.

The Talia Trust's work is mainly paying for the assessments and remedial teaching for children with specific learning difficulties.
But when we get evidence from the teachers who are with the students day in, day out, hour by hour, we get a glimpse into the world of the real results that our work (with your contributions) makes possible.
Here is an example of one of the teachers who work with their children whom we help.

Talia Trust Committee member, Lynne Toubkin and husband David, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last week. Their guests donated generously to the Talia Trust in lieu of gifts. Sheli and Michael Wallach donated their time and talent with a musical concert to help raise funds for the Talia Trust.
The Talia Trust was established by friends, who were at the celebration, Marilyn and Maurice Hyman, after their daughter Talia was tragically killed in a traffic accident in 2005. They wanted a way to keep her memory alive and the Amuta (which is completely run by volunteers, some of whom were among the guests) has helped nearly 2000 children who have gone from being frustrated in their studies to being able to succeed.
Our funds go to any child whose family cannot afford to help them so we pay for remedial teaching and psycho-didactic assessments which enable a child to get specialized help before taking High School exams. We have recently started a new project at the University of Haifa to help students who are struggling with their studies.

Lynne Toubkin and Linda Yama, Talia Trust Volunteer Project Coordinators, visited Shirat HaYam primary school, Kiryat Yam and met Avner Ohayon (Head), Maayan KImche,( Yoetzet) and Shira, (Class teacher).
The school had been about to close its remedial programme because of lack of funding in November 2021, when Talia Trust undertook to finance it for a 12 week pilot of 5 hours a week, divided amongst 3 groups. The children in the group were chosen by their class teachers as already having learning difficulties and who were not getting help from any other sources. These children were below the level of those receiving other help and their families could not help in any way financially.
They visited the remedial group and watched the children interact with the teacher. They talked with the class teacher, Shira, who explained that she has seen great progress with their self-confidence and their ability to form their letters and write words correctly.
Children seen around the school and in the playground and in the corridors looked happy and enthusiastic. The recommendation is that this project continues. This is a school in need and the Talia Trust can achieve its goal there of helping young children bridge the gap between their low level and that of an average child of their age.
We are saddened to inform you of the sudden passing of David Posner, trustee of Talia Trust UK for the past 5 years. David, who had been volunteering for charities all his life, brought his rich professional experience as a chartered accountant to provide much administrative support and to offer solutions for Talia Trust UK. May his memory be a blessing.

Jeremy Hyman writes:
Almost without notice, 20 March has arrived. Ranit and I were supposed to be, right now, in the midst of running the 10km at the annual Jerusalem Marathon. It's been 4 years since we both ran this far. Last time, I set an ambitious time target and so I quickly ran ahead of Ranit. Beyond the scenery and the special atmosphere of the Jerusalem Marathon, this race has become a kind of memorial event for my late sister Talia, who was killed in a car accident 15 years ago.
Every year we run in the Jerusalem Marathon, we, and other good and dear friends, donate to the Talia Trust for Children, founded by Talia's parents in her memory, fundraising for children with learning difficulties from disadvantaged families. The Jerusalem Marathon is a high point in donations to the Talia Trust and much of its activity relies on donations collected during this period by good people running with T-shirts of the Talia Trust - both from their personal donations and from their friends' donations.
This year, this significant source of income has been eliminated. I call here to those who are financially capable, not to forget the needy, who will certainly not decrease during the Corona crisis, and donate as much as you can to the Talia Trust for Children.
You can donate easily and quickly on this link: https://my.israelgives.org/en/campaign/TaliaTrustMarathon
It is important to note that all members of the Talai Trust are volunteers.
We should share good news! Shabbat Shalom to you all

Behind the scenes, Talia Trust volunteers are following up individual requests and visiting potential new projects. In addition, with on-going projects, volunteers are checking the progress of applications and students' improvements. Meanwhile many Talia Trust volunteers have been busy training and raising funds for their entry in the Jerusalem Marathon. Now that the event has been postponed until October, fundraisers will be in touch with donors individually.
