Maurice Hyman

Maurice immigrated with his family to Israel in 1979, lives in Haifa and has been leading the Talia Trust in Israel since its establishment in 2005.His educational background is in finance, with a B.A. degree in Economics (Essex University, UK) and as a chartered accountant in the UK and a C.P.A in Israel. Maurice has worked in senior positions for large multinational companies in Europe, South America and in Israel as well as establishing a forensic accounting practice in London in 2003. From 2004 until 2010 he worked as an independent consultant advising and raising capital for start-ups, as well as representing a UK university in Israel. Additionally, he has served and continues to act as a Director in a voluntary capacity for several other non profit making organizations.

 

Marilyn Hyman

Marilyn, who is married to Maurice, is a founder member of the Talia Trust for Children. As Talia z.l.’s parents, they have defined the aims of the organization based on their own experience. Marilyn manages the ongoing projects, as well as writing the regular newsletter. She has a B.A. in Sociology (Sheffield University, UK), M.A. in English (Haifa University, Israel) and a Diploma in Careers Guidance. Her working life has been mainly with teenagers and college students- in the UK, in careers’ guidance and, in Israel, teaching English in university pre-academic courses. Since the early 1970s, Marilyn has been an active volunteer in several non-profit-making organizations, both in the UK and in Israel.

 

Bryan Knobloch

Immigrated with his family from South Africa in 1978 and has been a committee member of the Talia Trust in Israel since its establishment in 2005. He is a retired C.P.A (South Africa and Israel) and worked in a high tech company for over 30 years as Controller and Treasurer. He also volunteers in another non- profit making organization.

 

Dr. Lynne Toubkin

Lynne has been involved with the Talia Trust since its inception in 2005 and became a board member in 2011.  In her professional capacity as an educator and teacher, Lynne has taught all age groups but concentrated mainly on students and adults for the last three decades.  Her academic qualifications include a B.Ed. ((Manchester, UK ) in American Studies, Sociology and Education as well as an M.A in English Language and Literature and a Ph.D. in History focusing on Migration Studies.  She has also acted as Coordinator for the English Pre-Academic Program of the University of Haifa and been Project Coordinator for a Business and Professional English Teaching Company.

 

 

Linda Yama

Made aliyah in 1971 from the USA. Joined the Talia Trust as a volunteer in 2014 and joined the management commitee in 2015.She is a social worker with many years of experience working with at-risk teenagers in a residential school setting. She has also supervised social work students in their field work placement.

 

Linda Altshul

Linda returned to Israel in 2016. She has a B.A. (Hons) in Japanese and Modern History (University of Sheffield UK) and a Diploma in Vocational Guidance, and worked as a UK Local Government Career Advisor with teenagers.  Linda taught English in Israel in several programmes at the Technion. She received an M. Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (Manchester University).  At the University of Salford, she set up an online and taught programme in Developing Study Skills for Language Learning.  She volunteered as a project representative with Talia Trust UK, and taught school groups at Manchester Jewish Museum.

 

Stan Freeman

Stan made aliyah with his wife, Lee, in 2000, having previously lived primarily in the UK, He has a B.A.(Hons) in Economics (Leicester University, UK) and M.Sc. (Econ) in Statistics (London School of Economics). Stan was employed by Unilever for 42½ years. He qualified as an accountant during his employment, working in various Unilever companies in the UK and The Netherlands and, finally as the Financial Director of Strauss Ice Cream.  Stan has been involved with the Talia Trust since its foundation; particularly as a member of the Audit Committee since 2012. He joined the Management Team in 2019.
